DIZON DEMANDS EXPLANATION FROM DAVAO OFFICIALS OVER P96.5-M ‘GHOST PROJECT’

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has issued show-cause orders to DPWH-Davao Regional Director Juby Cordon and Davao Occidental District Engineer Rodrigo Larete over the P96.5-million Culaman Bridge flood control project, which was labeled a “ghost project.”

During an inspection, Dizon and former ICI adviser Benjamin Magalong found that the project had only begun construction recently despite being declared completed and paid for in 2022.

The project, awarded to St. Timothy Construction Company, is under investigation for alleged anomalies.

Both officials were given five days to explain their involvement or face administrative charges for possible grave misconduct and neglect of duty.

Dizon expressed frustration during the inspection, criticizing the officials for approving payment on an unfinished project that affects residents and students.
