The government has partnered with internet analyst Ookla to enhance monitoring of internet speeds and outage response times to help close the digital gap in the Philippines.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) aims to increase transparency by publishing accurate data on internet connectivity quality.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda emphasized the importance of transparency and announced that the agency will use Ookla’s Downdetector dashboard for real-time outage reports.
This partnership supports the DICT’s Oplan Bantay Signal, allowing users to check internet speeds live and helping identify areas needing improvement.
Ookla will also submit quarterly reports on network performance to assist the DICT in holding providers accountable and improving service nationwide.
