The Department of Education (DepEd) assured on Friday that it is prepared for the impact of Typhoon Uwan while continuing recovery efforts in schools hit by Typhoon Tino.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara ordered the distribution of EduKahon kits, alternative learning materials, and DLP-LAS sheets to ensure learning continues during emergencies.
DepEd TV, in partnership with the Knowledge Channel and Solar Pictures, will support education recovery through TV-based learning.
The agency reported that over 1.9 million learners and 80,000 school personnel in 3,478 public schools were affected, with at least 3,260 classrooms damaged.
Angara emphasized that safety remains the top priority and called for PHP1.86 billion for classroom repairs and PHP30.63 million for cleanup operations.
