The Department of Agriculture will soon launch a centralized command center to consolidate real-time data and use AI analytics for evidence-based policymaking.
The platform will track crop production, livestock, weather, imports and exports, prices, satellite monitoring, and supply chain conditions.
By centralizing this information, the DA aims to anticipate shortages, prevent oversupply, and improve coordination across regional offices.
The system, potentially called GAIA (Government Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture), will simulate crop scenarios, optimize planting, detect disease risks, and guide interventions.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized that agency-wide participation is crucial to ensure the command center strengthens food security, stabilizes prices, and supports farmers’ livelihoods.
