On the fifth day of the Balikatan exercise, Filipino and American troops focused on drills to protect military digital systems from cyberattacks during the Cyber Defense Exercise (Cydex).
The exercise occurred simultaneously at multiple locations, including Camp Aguinaldo, Palawan, Clark Air Base, and Subic, and was observed by representatives from various allied armed forces.
The Philippine Armed Forces (AFP) emphasized that Cydex is designed to strengthen cyber defense capabilities and enhance interoperability between nations in responding to digital threats.
The training is part of the broader Balikatan exercise, which also focuses on Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) starting this Sunday.
Balikatan, with growing participation from allied countries, aims to enhance security partnerships and address regional defense priorities, as highlighted by Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo during the opening ceremony.
