Colombia has recognized the Philippines as a global model for successful peace processes, praising Manila’s experience in resolving long-standing conflicts.
This acknowledgment followed a peacebuilding study tour by Colombian delegates as part of the South-South Cooperation Learning Route, which promotes knowledge-sharing among countries in the Global South.
The tour included visits to conflict-affected areas like Aklan and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, showcasing the Philippines’ progress in peace and development.
Key milestones in the Philippine peace process include agreements with the Moro National Liberation Front and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which led to the creation of the Bangsamoro region.
The collaboration highlights shared cultural ties and mutual commitment to peace between the two nations.
