A Chinese national with alleged ties to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) was released in Manila after being kidnapped in Bulacan, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported.
The victim underwent a medical exam and debriefing by the Anti-Kidnapping Group following his release early Wednesday morning.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area for leads and have identified persons of interest, with the victim’s POGO connections being considered as a motive.
The victim’s family reportedly paid a PHP5 million ransom.
This is the second time the victim has been kidnapped, following a similar incident in 2020.
