The government has provided a package of assistance to 31 Filipinos safely repatriated from the war-affected Middle East, including P150,000 each in immediate financial aid and airport support such as temporary shelter or transportation to their home provinces.
The Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), is offering physical and mental health assessments to address potential trauma experienced by the evacuees.
The repatriation effort involved coordination between the DMW, Office of Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippine ambassadors in the Middle East, and local governments.
The group, arriving from Doha via Qatar Airways, included workers from Israel, Jordan, Palestine, and Qatar, and was accompanied by DMW officials.
Despite flight delays caused by airspace closures following an Iranian air strike, the repatriates arrived safely at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
