Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle urged the faithful to rediscover Simbang Gabi as a spiritual journey with Mary and Joseph, rather than merely a holiday checklist.
In his homily at St. Joseph’s Church in Abu Dhabi, he emphasized that the devotion accompanies Mary as she carried Jesus.
Tagle highlighted St. Joseph’s immediate obedience to God’s plan as an example of preparation rooted in faith.
Speaking to a congregation largely composed of overseas Filipino workers, he noted that the Christmas story reflects lives of uncertainty, sacrifice, and unplanned journeys.
He encouraged worshippers to use Advent as a time for reconciliation, compassion, and reaching out to those who feel forgotten.
