Eumir Marcial won the Philippines’ only boxing gold at the Southeast Asian Games by defeating Indonesia’s Maikhel Roberrd Muskita in the 80-kilogram division via split decision.
The Olympic bronze medalist dominated early, landing effective shots from the clinch while staying slippery against Muskita’s counterpunches.
By the third round, Marcial maintained pressure and connected on key punches, securing the victory as four of five judges scored in his favor.
This marks Marcial’s fifth SEA Games gold medal, adding to his impressive boxing career.
Meanwhile, three other Filipino boxers earned silver medals: Aira Villegas in the women’s 50-kilogram division, and Jay Bryan Baricuatro and Jara Flint in the men’s 48- and 54-kilogram divisions.
