The iconic 1984 youth film “Bagets” is making a grand comeback — this time as a stage musical set to premiere at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2026.
Four decades after the movie captured the spirit of a generation, “Bagets The Musical” will retell the story of friendship, growing pains, and self-discovery in a modern theatrical form.
Andres Muhlach, son of original “Bagets” star Aga Muhlach, will portray Adie — the same character that catapulted his father to fame.
“It’s a surreal feeling, a full circle moment for me,” Andres said, adding that his father is excited and supportive of the project.
Sharing the role of Adie is actor Mico Hendrix Chua, as the young cast undergoes intensive workshops to bring authentic chemistry and energy to the stage.
