Filipino weightlifter Elreen Ando captured gold in the women’s 63-kg class with a 229-kg total, marking her second SEA Games gold, while shooters Rolly Nathaniel Tecson, Edcel John Gino, Erin Matter Nico, and Genesis Pible each claimed gold on Monday at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
Ando followed up on Albert Ian Delos Santos’ silver in the men’s 71-kg weightlifting event, helping the Philippines increase its overall gold tally to 22.
In tennis, Alex Eala secured a bronze medal after reaching the semifinals, while Alexa Joy Milliam fell in the quarterfinals.
Gilas Pilipinas advanced to the men’s basketball semifinals with a 78-67 win over Vietnam, and the Alas men’s volleyball team returned to the semis after six years.
In the marathon, Arlan Arbois and debutant Artjoy Torregosa earned silver medals, with Richard Salano taking bronze in the men’s division, highlighting the Philippines’ strong all-around performance.
