Akari continued its impressive run in the PVL Reinforced Conference, edging out Chery Tiggo in another five-set thriller, 25-11, 22-25, 29-27, 17-25, 15-7, yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Chargers, led by Annie Mitchem, Eli Soyud, and Ced Domingo, all scored in double figures to seize the Group B lead with a 2-0 record.
The victory followed their stunning upset of powerhouse Creamline last weekend, proving their strong start was no fluke.
Coach Tina Salak lauded her team’s “character, growth, and composure,” as Domingo’s clutch plays in the decider sealed the win.
In the day’s other match, ZUS Coffee swept Galeries Tower, 25-22, 25-16, 25-16, to stay on top of Group B with a 3-1 card.
