The AFP and Indian Armed Forces conducted the second Philippines–India Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) in the West Philippine Sea on November 26, strengthening their naval partnership.
The exercises involved guided-missile frigates, fighter jets, and helicopters, with drills including communication exercises, officer-of-the-watch maneuvers, and a passing exercise to demonstrate coordinated maritime operations.
AFP officials said the MCA underscores both countries’ commitment to upholding international maritime law, freedom of navigation, and regional stability.
The activity comes amid growing regional concern over China’s assertive actions in the West Philippine Sea, which Beijing criticized as destabilizing.
AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. emphasized that the partnership reflects unity and strategic deterrence rather than a show of force against China.
