ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS TO SKIP SENATE HEARING ON DUTERTE’S ARREST

Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed that no administration officials will attend the Senate’s second hearing on former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest, citing a letter from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. 

The letter, dated March 31, was addressed to Marcos and Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero. 

Duterte’s legal counsel is working to challenge the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) jurisdiction over his alleged crimes against humanity, with lawyer Nicholas Kaufman aiming to delay the trial. 

Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) emphasized the need for improved disaster preparedness in the Philippines following the recent Myanmar earthquake. 

In other news, the Philippine National Police warned of devices retrieved from POGO facilities linked to recent cybercrimes.
