The rehabilitation of EDSA will begin on Christmas Eve, with an eight-month timeline and a reduced budget of P6 billion, down from the original P17 billion, the DPWH announced.
The project will be carried out in two phases, with the first covering Roxas Boulevard to Orense Street in Makati, and the second addressing the remaining portions, including Caloocan.
Work will include asphalt overlay and lane reblocking using durable stone mastic asphalt, with most activities scheduled at night and on weekends to minimize traffic disruption.
Scrapped proposals include full reblocking, free Skyway access, and the odd-even scheme, while number coding will remain in effect.
Transportation agencies assured commuters of adequate MRT-3 trains and Carousel buses to ease travel during the rehabilitation period.
