The study found that 55% of the workforce in the Philippines currently utilizes generative AI, indicating a readiness to embrace technological advancements. Many Filipinos also anticipate that AI will create new job prospects beyond traditional city-based work, as it has the potential to enhance remote work capabilities.
LinkedIn data further highlights a rapid shift in the Philippines, with a significant 31% rate of change in skill requirements.
Job postings in Southeast Asian markets mentioning AI or generative AI have doubled between 2021 and 2023. These listings have also experienced a 1.7 times increase in applications, surpassing the growth rate of job postings that do not mention AI.
Professionals in the Philippines believe that problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills will be increasingly valuable as AI tools become more integrated into workplaces.
Experts emphasized the need for workers to adapt and take advantage of technological advancements and mentioned the changing skill requirements in the changing job market.
