Thirteen Filipinas convicted for their involvement in a surrogacy ring in Cambodia have been repatriated to the Philippines after serving their sentences.
The women, who were charged with violating Cambodia’s laws on human trafficking and surrogacy, arrived back in Manila following diplomatic negotiations.
The Philippine government has vowed to provide support for the repatriates, who face legal consequences for their roles in the controversial surrogacy operations.
Authorities are also conducting investigations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This case highlights the growing concerns over international surrogacy and human trafficking networks.
