The Bukidnon Coffee Council is working to establish the province as the “Arabica capital” of the Philippines by developing at least 10,000 hectares for Arabica coffee farming.
Governor Rogelio Neil Roque acknowledged the current small production but emphasized the need to expand due to growing demand from both local and international buyers.
Recently, Japanese investors expressed interest in Bukidnon’s Arabica coffee following a tasting event in Manila, potentially leading to farm visits and partnerships.
Arabica beans are fetching premium prices abroad, with high-quality beans reaching up to ₱100,000 per kilo, while local farmers currently sell at ₱30,000 per kilo.
The coffee council, in collaboration with Central Mindanao University and the private sector, is providing technical support to help local farmers improve quality and prepare for international markets.
