Malacañang downplayed a survey showing Vice President Sara Duterte as the leading contender for the 2028 presidential elections, saying President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is focused on governance rather than politics.
A WR Numero Research poll conducted from July 29 to Aug. 6 showed Duterte with 31.4% support, with no clear Marcos ally among the front-runners.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro urged the public to focus on the administration’s delivery of services, not on elections still three years away.
She also highlighted ongoing poverty alleviation efforts after an OCTA survey showed self-rated poor families rising to 11.9 million, with Marcos ordering the expansion of the rice subsidy program to reach 15 million families by 2026.
The government is also selling rice at ₱20/kg in select NFA warehouses to qualified farmers, 4Ps beneficiaries, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups.
