Rep. Camille Villar has filed House Bill No. 11308, seeking to create an inter-agency task force to address job losses caused by AI and digital disruption.
The proposed National Task Force on Digital Economy Job Disruption will establish an early warning system to identify industries at risk, provide financial aid to displaced workers, and implement upskilling programs.
Villar emphasized the need to help workers adapt to rapid technological changes, ensuring they acquire digital skills necessary for new job opportunities.
The bill also includes a Workers’ Adjustment Program (WAP) offering wage compensation, unemployment benefits, and career transition support.
Citing IMF data, the Federation of Free Workers warned that 14% of the country’s workforce is at risk of being replaced by AI, with women more likely to be affected than men.
