VICE PRESIDENT SARA DUTERTE RESIGNS FROM MARCOS CABINET

After months of tension between political families, Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from her positions as Secretary of Education and Vice Chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, effective July 19, 2024.

The resignation, confirmed by the Presidential Communications Office, comes amid speculations of a rift in the UniTeam following political maneuvers in the House of Representatives and public disagreements.

Duterte stated her resignation was driven by concern for teachers and students and assured her continued service through the Vice President’s office.

President Marcos praised her Cabinet performance, despite their differences on various issues. The government is now seeking her replacement as questions arise about the future of their political alliance.
