Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan died on Wednesday after accidentally discharging her firearm near her Iloilo City residence.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the La Paz district, when the bullet struck her in the stomach.
She was immediately rushed to St. Paul’s Hospital but could not be saved.
Her death was confirmed by Dueñas Mayor Robert Martin Pama, who paid tribute to her on social media.
Authorities are still verifying the exact circumstances of the accident, and police officials have been contacted for further details.
