The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and TikTok are considering establishing a content creator academy in the Philippines to foster local talent and enhance digital integration.
This collaboration was discussed during a June 5 meeting between Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual and TikTok representatives in Singapore.
The academy aims to help Filipinos develop content for TikTok, promoting products and improving audience engagement through mobile-first videos.
The creative economy in the Philippines, valued at P1.72 trillion, grew by 6.9 percent last year, outpacing the national economic growth.
The DTI and TikTok also discussed enhancing the TikTok Shop’s protection features and welcomed TikTok’s Safety Enforcement Tool for secure content takedown requests.
