The United Nations pledged continued support for peace and development initiatives in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao during the 5th Bangsamoro International Development Partners Forum.
UN Resident Coordinator Arnaud Peral highlighted that 18 UN agencies are working in the region alongside local ministries, civil society, and communities to deliver socioeconomic gains and strengthen governance.
The UN employs mostly local personnel familiar with BARMM’s challenges, promoting trust and effective partnerships with the Bangsamoro government.
Programs include peacebuilding initiatives, such as women mediators in Lanao del Sur, and institutional capacity-building under the 2024–2028 cooperation framework.
Forum organizers emphasized that these efforts, anchored in partnership and shared responsibility, align development assistance with the region’s priorities and ongoing transition under the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
