A former barangay official, Mary Jane Bama, has been sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in falsifying documents, as part of the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) campaign against fixers.
The Iloilo municipal trial court also fined her PHP5,000.
Bama was convicted on five counts of falsification under the Revised Penal Code.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II emphasized that this case should deter others from engaging in illegal activities, as every centavo from clients is hard-earned.
The sentencing follows a crackdown on fake driver’s licenses by LTO 6 (Western Visayas).
