Starting March 15, all motorists will be required to have a radio frequency identification (RFID) sticker on their vehicles for tollway access, as part of the government’s shift to cashless toll collection, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced.
Vehicles without a valid RFID sticker will be allowed to enter toll plazas but must have one installed immediately, with non-compliant motorists facing penalties.
The TRB believes the full transition to RFID will streamline toll payments, reduce long queues, and improve traffic flow.
With one month until the deadline, the TRB is urging drivers to secure RFID stickers at designated installation and loading stations.
Tollway operators, including Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. and San Miguel Corp., support the mandate, noting that 97% of users have already complied, and they encourage the remaining 3% to follow suit before the deadline.
