The Archdiocese of Manila announced that aguinaldo or Simbang Gabi masses will start as early as 6 p.m., while dawn masses begin at 5:30 a.m. during the nine-day novena leading up to Christmas.
Cardinal Jose Advincula issued guidelines allowing evening masses to use the following day’s readings, except for Sundays, and reminded priests to secure permission if celebrating outside parish churches.
White vestments, along with the Gloria and Creed, are to be used for aguinaldo masses on Sundays, while other Sunday masses retain violet vestments.
For the fourth year, Malacañang will open the Kalayaan grounds for public Simbang Gabi at 4 a.m., along with evening family activities including carnival rides and movie nights.
The events aim to preserve Filipino Christmas traditions and encourage public participation in the spiritual and festive celebrations.
