Vice President Sara Duterte urged local governments to enforce strict policies protecting children from cyberbullying, online sexual abuse, and other digital risks during National Children’s Month.
She emphasized that parents and communities also share responsibility to safeguard children and monitor their internet use, while empowering children to have a voice in the campaign.
Meanwhile, UNICEF expressed concern over the worsening impact of back-to-back disasters, including Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan, on vulnerable children and families.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 281 child casualties and thousands of displaced children due to flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage.
UNICEF has provided emergency assistance—including water, health, nutrition, and education supplies—to around 75,000 affected people and stands ready to scale up support in coordination with the Philippine government.
