The remains of overseas Filipino worker Mary Ann De Vera, who was killed in a missile strike in Tel Aviv on February 28, have been repatriated to the Philippines.
Her body arrived on March 14 and was received by her family, accompanied by officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
De Vera’s husband, Bernie Lavarias, returned with her remains, and Israel’s president, Isaac Herzog, and Ambassador Dana Kursh conveyed condolences and assured lifetime support for the family.
The attack occurred amid escalating Middle East tensions following Iran’s retaliatory strikes after joint Israeli-U.S. military action.
De Vera, a 32-year-old caregiver from Basista, Pangasinan, had been working in Israel since 2019, and the Philippine government pledged continued assistance to her family in recognition of her service and sacrifice.
