Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), and five co-accused pleaded not guilty to charges of qualified human trafficking and child abuse at separate court sessions in Pasig City and Quezon City.
Quiboloy and his co-accused, including Cresente Canada and Ingrid Canada, made their pleas under tight security, with one complainant present in court.
Following the arraignment, Quiboloy’s lawyers requested hospital arrest due to medical issues, but this was opposed by prosecutors, leading to a court order for Quiboloy to remain at the PNP Custodial Center for medical evaluation.
Additionally, Gabriela Women’s party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas has called for an investigation into former President Rodrigo Duterte’s potential involvement in shielding Quiboloy.
Meanwhile, the United States has not formally requested Quiboloy’s extradition, and Philippine authorities are awaiting further developments.
