QUEZON CITY COURT ASSIGNS NEW MAGISTRATE TO DENGVAXIA PROCEEDINGS

A new family court judge has been assigned to oversee the long-running Dengvaxia case after the recusal of Quezon City-RTC Branch 229 Judge Cleto Villacorta III.

The case was raffled to Judge Roslyn Tria of Branch 86, who previously recused herself due to a conflict of interest involving her husband’s legal representation of two defendants.

Insiders believe Tria may once again inhibit herself to avoid further conflict of interest. Prosecutors plan to file a formal motion for inhibition against Tria.

The case initially saw the dismissal of eight Dengvaxia-related cases by Villacorta, leading to concerns of potential bias in handling the remaining 35 cases.
