QC COURT SETS PRE-TRIAL DATES FOR DENGVAXIA CASE AGAINST GARIN, OTHERS

A Quezon City trial court has set the long-delayed Dengvaxia case for pre-trial on November 17, 2025, and January 27, 2026, while also resolving motions to dismiss filed by former Health Secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin and her co-accused.

Judge Michael Ken de Jesus of RTC Branch 102 will decide on defense motions claiming double jeopardy, citing earlier dismissals of similar cases, which the prosecution countered as distinct due to different victims and circumstances.

The case involves 35 complaints linked to the deaths of children allegedly caused by the P3.5-billion Dengvaxia vaccine program launched in 2015.

Parents’ group SMABD expressed hope the court would block further delays, emphasizing their years-long fight for justice.

The Supreme Court earlier designated de Jesus’ sala to handle all Dengvaxia-related cases, which also named former health officials, Sanofi Pasteur executives, Zuellig Pharma, and other institutions as respondents.
