PROPOSAL TO SET UP PHILIPPINE GERIATRIC CENTER BACKED BY HONTIVEROS

Senator Risa Hontiveros has refiled a bill to create the Philippine Geriatric Center, a specialty hospital dedicated to senior citizens.

The proposed Senate Bill No. 1302 aims to upgrade the existing National Center for Geriatric Health in Manila into a tertiary hospital focused on elderly care.

Hontiveros emphasized the need for specialized health services and improved facilities to better serve the aging population.

The bill also includes provisions for scholarships and training programs for healthcare workers specializing in geriatrics.

Additionally, it seeks to establish regional geriatric centers to ensure nationwide access to quality elderly care and address the shortage of medical personnel.
