The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that 66 out of 183 senatorial aspirants are likely to be recognized as legitimate candidates for the upcoming elections.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia stated that the law department will submit recommendations on which candidates to retain or remove by Wednesday.
The remaining 117 aspirants will undergo further evaluation to determine their eligibility.
In total, Comelec has received 43,033 certificates of candidacy (COCs) for various national and local positions, with 183 aspiring for the Senate.
The official list of candidates is expected to be published on the Comelec website and finalized by the end of November.
