The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) is advancing plans to develop a national spaceport through public-private partnerships (PPPs) to position the Philippines as a key player in the global space economy.
Leveraging the country’s strategic location near the equator and growing technical capabilities, PhilSA aims to create spaceports that serve as gateways to new industries beyond rocket launches.
The initiative is supported by recent legislation and ongoing talks with international partners, including the United States, to foster collaboration and investment.
PhilSA envisions the spaceport project as a catalyst for job creation, advanced manufacturing, and the development of “Space Economic Industrial Zones” nationwide.
The PPP proposal is currently under evaluation as the agency works with private and government stakeholders to make the country a regional hub for space launch services.
