PHILIPPINES ON ALERT: CHINA’S ‘MONSTER’ SHIP ENTERS SOVEREIGN WATERS

The Philippine Navy confirmed the presence of China’s largest coast guard ship near Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal, off Zambales, while investigating reports of a pipeline allegedly laid by the Chinese in the area.

Commodore Roy Vincent Trinidad revealed that the Chinese vessel, along with a smaller ship, was last seen around 50 nautical miles from Panatag Shoal, prompting concerns following China’s recent maritime regulation allowing the detention of foreigners in its territorial waters.

Amid increasing Chinese harassment reported by Filipino fishermen, the Philippine Coast Guard vowed to reinforce its presence in the West Philippine Sea, ensuring the safety of local fishermen and asserting maritime security in the region.
