PHILIPPINES LISTED AS THIRD-MOST HEAT-IMPACTED COUNTRY IN ASIA

The Philippines has been ranked as the third most heat-impacted country in Asia, according to a report by nonprofit Climate Central.

The study found that 37 of 51 Asian countries experienced abnormal warming, averaging 0.6 degrees Celsius above historical norms.

The Philippines also ranked eighth for the number of “risky heat days,” which occur when temperatures exceed 90 percent of local temperatures from 1991 to 2020.

The report revealed that nearly 394 million people globally experienced over 30 extra days of life-threatening heat due to climate change.

Meanwhile, the World Meteorological Organization confirmed 2024 as the hottest year on record, with global temperatures 1.55°C above pre-industrial levels, contributing to severe weather events and increased displacement.
