President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a national state of calamity on November 6 after Typhoon Tino caused widespread devastation, particularly in Cebu.
The move follows a briefing with his ministers and a recommendation from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Tino has left at least 114 dead, 127 missing, and affected over 1.9 million people across the country.
The declaration allows faster access to emergency funds and streamlines procurement for relief operations.
Marcos also warned that Typhoon Uwan, currently a tropical storm, is expected to intensify into a super typhoon by Saturday, affecting 10 to 12 regions.
