PHILIPPINE ROWING’S PROGRESS BRINGS JOY TO OLYMPIAN JOANIE DELGACO

First Filipina Olympian rower Joanie Delgaco expressed her excitement over the rapid growth of the Philippine Rowing Association (PRA), noting the sport has attracted more recognition and participation.

Delgaco competed alongside Kristine Paraon and other national athletes in the 2026 PRA Indoor Meet at UP Diliman, which saw entries soar from just a few participants last year to over 100 this edition.

Paraon also praised the event’s increased turnout, highlighting the sport’s rising popularity in the country.

The two-day meet, held March 28–29, serves as the primary recruitment platform for the national rowing team.

Foreign coach Aliaksandra Tsekhanovich emphasized the need to expand rowing clubs nationwide, making the sport more accessible and popular across the Philippines.
