Business organizations condemned the harassment of the Philippine military by Chinese forces in the West Philippine Sea, following a clash at Ayungin Shoal.
In a joint statement, 17 business groups called for a peaceful resolution and urged the government to modernize the AFP and PCG.
The Department of Foreign Affairs labeled China’s actions during a resupply mission as “illegal and aggressive,” while Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri emphasized the need for immediate military modernization.
Transparency efforts by the government have garnered international support against China’s tactics.
Despite ongoing disputes, China maintains that the Philippine actions were provocative and illegal.
