PEACE MONITORS PUSH PH, MILF TO STAY THE COURSE

The Third Party Monitoring Team (TPMT) has urged the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to reaffirm their commitments to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, warning that delays have placed the peace process at a “very sensitive juncture.”

Marking the accord’s 12th anniversary, the TPMT acknowledged progress since 2014 but noted that key provisions remain only partially implemented.

The body emphasized the need for sustained cooperation, mutual respect, and joint action to ensure the agreement’s success.

It also highlighted the importance of holding the long-delayed parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to strengthen democratic governance.

The TPMT reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the process and called on all parties to uphold the agreement’s spirit to secure lasting peace in the region.
