The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has announced the launch of a new lottery game with a staggering P1 billion jackpot prize in 2024. In an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo, PCSO General Manager Mel Robles revealed that the game will be modeled after the popular Powerball lottery in the United States.
Robles emphasized that this new jackpot game will be different from existing lottery games. He also mentioned that 20% of the prize money will be allocated for taxes.
Prior to this announcement, the PCSO had already increased the minimum jackpot prizes for the Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 5/58 games to P500 million as part of their ‘Handog Pakabog’ Christmas program.
In addition to these developments, the PCSO has also introduced an online lottery system called E-lotto.
This web-based platform allows Filipinos aged 18 and above, including those residing abroad, to participate in the lottery. Robles explained that interested bettors must possess a Philippine government-issued ID, a Philippine SIM number, and an e-wallet to participate in the online lottery.
