PBBM ENVISIONS PROSPEROUS INDO-PACIFIC WITH US, JAPAN ALLIANCE

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. returned to Manila following a significant trilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Washington.

Marcos highlighted collaborative efforts with the US and Japan as pivotal for a “brighter and more prosperous future” in the Indo-Pacific region.

Discussions revolved around bolstering economic resilience, addressing climate change, and maritime cooperation. Biden reaffirmed Washington’s “ironclad” defense commitments to Manila and Tokyo, expressing joint concern over Beijing’s actions in the South China Sea.

The US and Japan pledged support for Philippine infrastructure development, workforce training, and membership in the Minerals Security Partnership Forum.

Marcos emphasized the natural progression of strong relations between close allies. China criticized the summit, denouncing manipulation of bloc politics and opposition to its strategic interests.
