President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has expressed his sympathies to Taiwan after a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the country early Wednesday.
In a social media statement, Marcos pledged assistance to all Filipinos currently in Taiwan.
The Department of Migrant Workers is actively ensuring the safety of the 159,480 Filipinos residing in Taiwan and is prepared to support them during this challenging time.
The earthquake, the strongest to hit Taiwan in over two decades, occurred southeast of Hualien County. Local media reports indicate that at least four people have died and 44 others have been injured.
The Manila Economic and Cultural Office confirms that all Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers in Taiwan are safe and accounted for.
