PALACE CLARIFIES RAMADAN IS NOT A PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Malacañang clarified on Wednesday that the start of Ramadan on February 19 will not be a public holiday.

The Bangsamoro Grand Mufti announced the beginning of Ramadan after sighting the crescent moon.

Ramadan is a significant period for Muslims, marking the revelation of the Quran and the start of fasting for adults.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the day will not be officially declared a holiday, in line with past practice.

False social media announcements had led to confusion and class suspensions ahead of the observance.
