Around 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will see a P35 increase in their daily pay, from P610 to P645, starting July 17.
This wage hike, issued by the NCR-Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board under Wage Order NCR-25, also affects workers in the agriculture sector and small retail and manufacturing establishments.
Labor groups have criticized the increase as insufficient and continue to push for a legislated P150 daily wage hike, while employers welcomed the balanced approach of the new wage order.
The order is expected to directly benefit nearly 988,243 minimum wage earners and may indirectly benefit around 1.7 million workers above the minimum wage.
Regional wage boards across the country have been directed to review and update their wage rates, following the President’s Labor Day directive.
