The Department of Agriculture (DA) assures the public of stable rice supply despite El Niño concerns.
DA stated that both importation and local production contribute to the ample rice supply.
The agency also reported that crop commodities, including rice, corn, pork, and chicken, will remain stable in the coming months despite El Niño effects.
The country’s current rice importation surpasses the monthly consumption demand, ensuring adequate supply until June.
DA noted that rice prices remain competitive with supplier countries like Vietnam and Thailand, attributing market prices to international input costs for fertilizers and seeds.
