NO CHINESE APPROVAL FOR AYUNGIN RESUPPLY MISSION

The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) refuted China’s claims that it permitted the Philippines’ resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal and inspected the supplies.

The NTF-WPS emphasized that the Philippines did not seek permission from China and that no boarding or inspection by the Chinese Coast Guard occurred.

Supported by the Philippine Coast Guard, the Armed Forces of the Philippines successfully conducted a rotation and reprovisioning mission using civilian and Coast Guard vessels, despite the presence of nine Chinese maritime vessels.

This mission followed a provisional agreement between Manila and Beijing aimed at de-escalating tensions and preventing misunderstandings.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) criticized China’s mischaracterization of the mission, reaffirming the Philippines’ sovereignty and commitment to peaceful dispute resolution.
