The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended filing inciting to sedition charges against former presidential spokesman Harry Roque and multiple charges, including cyber libel and computer forgery, against vlogger Claire “Maharlika” Contreras over a video falsely accusing President Marcos of drug use.
The NBI also filed cases against lawyer Raul Lambino and Duterte Youth chair Ronald Cardema for spreading fake news about a supposed Supreme Court order halting former president Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged ICC arrest.
NBI officials stressed the false claims could incite public confusion and threaten social order.
Both Lambino and Cardema allegedly misled the public via livestreams and media interviews, though no such Supreme Court order was issued.
Lambino dismissed the charges as political harassment meant to stifle critics of the Marcos administration.
